Cast Off a Cartwheel, Basically
Tom Holland trained as a dancer and gymnast long before acting, a background that made him a standout in his own right during the audition process for Marvel's Spider-Man — reportedly the most physically capable Peter Parker the studio had tested.
He debuted in the role in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War" and has now played the character across more films than any other actor to hold the part, growing up in the role almost in real time alongside audiences.
Life Outside the Suit
Away from Spider-Man, Holland has taken on noticeably heavier material — the true-story drama "Cherry," the survival film "The Impossible," the video-game adaptation "Uncharted" — a consistent effort to be seen as more than one franchise role, even as that role made him one of the most recognizable actors alive.
He also became known for candor about mental health and taking deliberate breaks from social media and, at times, acting itself — an unusually public kind of honesty for someone at his level of fame.
Tomdaya, and Brand New Day
Holland met Zendaya filming "Spider-Man: Homecoming" in 2017; they went public with their relationship in 2021, got engaged in late 2024, and by 2026 were widely reported to be married — a rare Hollywood relationship that stayed largely private despite constant public interest.
That same year brought "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," his fourth outing as Peter Parker, alongside Zendaya once again — plus a shared role in Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," putting the on-screen and off-screen partnership on the same call sheet twice in one summer.
